What is the difference between the HERBIE Grow Kit and the HERBIE DIY Kit?
The HERBIE DIY Kit does not come with a rack, pots, and reservoir, and the HERBIE Grow Kit does. We recommend the HERBIE Grow Kit for someone who wants an “out of the box option” for their auto watering system for plants.
When it comes to the HERBIE DIY Kit, you’re getting something that offers a little more flexibility because this self-watering device allows for different size pots (up to a 10” diameter) and different size reservoirs (the larger the reservoir, the longer your system can go without needing to fill up the reservoir again).
What types of plants will work with the HERBIE Grow Kit?
The best plants for this watering kit include lettuces, herbs, small vegetable plants, smaller plants/flowers, and plants that like water. While there is always water going up through the wicking system, there is air as well — so you can grow plants that would otherwise need a lot of drainage.
Any plants that need a robust amount of water or a minimal amount of water will do well with this grow kit.
How much water does the reservoir hold?

How often do I have to add water to the reservoir?
There are a few different variables that go into how often you will need to refill your water reservoir, such as the type of soil you have in your pots, the types of plants you’re growing (how much water they need), and the weather conditions/environment (how hot/dry your climate is) in which you are growing your plants. However, on average, you’ll likely have to refill your water reservoir once every week.
Is there anything else that I need in order to start using my HERBIE auto watering system for plants?
